Jonathan Trappe flies at 18,000 ft using balloons!

12-02-2010

An American, Jonathan Trappe used dozens of helium filled balloons to lift himself to heights that only planes and birds normally reach. He managed to reach a height of 6,000 meters (about 18,000 ft), covering a distance of 160 km (100 miles) from Leon, Coloranto to Mexico travelling at about 80 km (50 miles) per hour! To able to cope with the demands on such high altitude, he breathed through an oxygen container he carried with him.

A camera placed between the balloons, recorded the unique view as the daring American was flying over the mexican desert and mountains.

The balloons Jonathan used, were in the colours of Mexico’s flag, since his flight took place for the country’s freedom from Spain 200th anniversary. However, this was not his first feat. Some months before that, he became the first man ever to fly over the English channel using ballons!
